Volunteer

Got a few hours? A dog could use them.

ARF is run by volunteers. Every walk, every drive to the vet and every hour at an adoption event stretches what we can do for the dogs.

Ways to pitch in

Dog walking

Get a dog out for exercise, fresh air and a little leash practice. It’s good for them and it’s good for you.

Transport

Drive dogs where they need to go: vet visits, foster homes, adoption events. If you have a car and a free afternoon, we’d love to hear from you.

Event help

Set up, hand out flyers, and help people meet dogs at our adoption events and fundraisers around Belton, Peculiar and Kansas City.

For kids and teens

Youth programs

Junior Volunteer Program

Kids and teens learn how to handle animals safely, then help teach their friends through hands-on demos and activities. It builds confidence in the kids and social skills in our shy dogs.

Reading to Animals

School-age kids read out loud to our rescue dogs. Dogs are a patient audience, which helps kids practice reading, especially kids who are learning English. Shy dogs get used to people in a calm, quiet setting.

Sign up below and pick a youth program. A parent or guardian will need to sign off.
